Armstrong Foundation of Winchester gave a big chunk, the county supervisors added $1,000 and the rest came primarily from residents and friends in $5, S10 and S25 contributions. On the date of the building’s dedication as the Rappahannock County Public Library, the renovation fund had grown to $9,760.93.
Total cost for the building and its restoration amounted to between $12,000 and $13,000, according to librarian Penny Keesey. “People gave their services free or at minimum cost,” she noted.
