The Senate will soon consider a bill which would ease the tax burden on sellers of liquor-by-the-drink. The bill passed by only one vote in the Finance committee.
My constituents have clearly told me that they want the General Assembly to take the sales tax off of food and put it on liquor. I cannot support bills which conflict with the sentiments of the citizens of my district.
I will oppose the bill in the Senate and plan to support the removal of the sales tax on food and non-prescription drugs.
This week 1 voted in favor of a Constitutional amendment which would limit the types of legislation which could be considered in short sessions of the General Assembly.
