At the 1963 dedication ceremonies, William Carrigan, first chairman of the Board of Trustees, spoke of the library’s future. He foresaw it becoming a center for community cultural events, offering lectures, discussions and films for children, young people and adults.
The trustees have carried through with those original plans. The library has hosted poetry readings for former Presidential candidate and Senator Eugene McCarthy. It has offered everything from National Geographic films to presentations on silver appraising and tornado
