Another area that needs discussion, McNear continued, is the ordinance's requirement for public water and sewer for lots smaller than five acres. He questioned how public water and sewer could be justified if there was a drain field site adequate for the life of the dwelling and if the water source met health department regulations.
And if public water and sewer is required, why won’t the county permit lot sizes smaller than one acre, the planner questioned.
