Increases
Travel on Virginia’s major highways in July showed an increase of 2.5 percent over the same month a year ago, the Virginia Department of Highways and Transportation said today.
Passenger cars registered outside of Virginia showed the largest increase, 6.6 percent, when compared to July, 1980. Overall passenger car travel was up 2.9 percent, with Virginia-registered passenger vehicles showing an increase of 2.2 percent over July of a year ago.
Truck and bus travel in July also was up slightly, 1:5 percent, compared to July, 1980.
