Another sale to keep your eye on is the MarshallPreconditioned feeder calf sale on Thursday, October 15 at 7:30 p.m. These calves are vaccinated, weaned and started on feed prior to sale date. Calves are farm inspected to insure compliance with the preconditioning guarantee. Doug Cooper, Extension Livestock Specialist in Fauquier, and a group of progressive livestock producers put this sale together. It did well last year and received national attention.
Agricultural Field Day
The Piedmont Research Station Field Day will be held next Thursday. September 24 in Orange. There will be some excellent plot demonstrations for farmers and agricultural fieldmen to look over:
Corn hybrid tests, weed control in alfalfa, alfalfa variety tests, soybeans for Northern Virginia and raising catfish in cages.
Results of the various experimental plots will be reviewed by the different specialists in charge in the field.
