Eastham pointed out that certain state requirements have not been met in the past, including first aid training for drivers and bus evacuation drills.
Estabrook replied that attention will be given to all transportation requirements spelled out in school board law.
In addition to meeting with drivers, the superintendent reported that he's .instituted regular sessions with teachers as well. The faculty chose two representatives from the elementary school—Mollie Hobson and Patty Hottenger—and two from the high school—Don Bomberger and Brion Patterson—to meet with Estabrook on a monthly basis for discussion of mutual concerns, "theirs and mine,” the superintendent said.
Bomberger described the meetings as a very useful tool which will provide a good method of improving communications and reviewing both faculty and administration concerns.
Custom In-Service
Estabrook said he’s also begun work on developing an in-service training program designed specifically to meet the needs of Rappahannock’s teachers. As a first step, he asked each individual teacher to set his or her most pressing needs for in-service programs in priority order. He then requested the teachers to meet in groups, by grade levels at the elementary school and departments at tye high school, to establish group needs. Next Estabrook plans
