“MORTON’S TOE”
Many patients are told by their regular physician that they have "Morton's Toe" They can complain of numbness in their toes (most often in the third and fourth). This can be exacerbated by wearing shoes or by standing. They feel a burning cramping pain that can get quite severe
What they are feeling is actually a pinched nerve tumor In a spot where the . nerve branches between two bones it is fairly common for the nerve to thicken and inflame. When the foot is put in a shoe the enlarged nerve gets pinched Removing the shoe and rubbing usually temporarily relieves the pain.
This problem can be treated quite satisfactorily many times with medication alone If it persists it can be removed with complete relief of symptoms. Another name for this problem is "Morton's Neuroma"
