The Rappahannock Welfare Department will begin distributing surplus cheese on Tuesday, February 9, at 9 a.m. and continue through noon on Friday, February 12, in the reception area of the food stamp unit downstairs in the department’s Washington offices.

Supplemental Security Income (SSI) and food stamp recipients are eligible to receive the cheese.

Each person who has been determined eligible will get an authorization slip from the department through the mail. The authorization slip will list the day and time the cheese is to be picked up and the number of pounds due.

The slip must be brought in to the welfare offices to be traded for the correct amount of cheese.

If an SSI household has not received an authorization slip by February 8, the welfare office should be called at 675-3613.
