Workshop
The Rappahannock County Education Association has invited Helen Rolfe of the Virginia Education Association to lead a workshop on improving classroom discipline. The workshop will be held at the elementary school from 3:30 to 5:00, in two sessions, February 15 and 22. All interested teachers and substitutes are invited to attend.
R.C.E.A. president Diane Wood believes that the workshop will be beneficial: “Rappahannock is blessed with comparatively few discipline problems, but teachers need to be made aware of effective methods of dealing with them. It helps to develop a firm, fair, and consistent classroom policy.”
Although good classroom discipline is largely the responsibility of the teacher, parents can help at home in several ways: by providing the child with a good diet and adequate nutrition; by showing interest in the child’s school work, and most importantly, by providing love and stability in the home.
