Port Authority’s director, chief musician George Walker who also performs as vocalist, pianist and trombonist, is a Virginia boy who graduated from F. W. Cox High School in Virginia Beach and attended Old Dominion University in Norfolk. A vocal student in both high school and college, he was selected for Virginia All-State Band from 1966 to 1969 and for the All-State Chorus during his senior year of high school.
In past years, the Navy's blue grass and swing bands have performed at RCHS and while the faculty gave its vote to those earlier groups, there was no doubt after Tuesday’s mini-concert that the students preferred Port Authority.
