Lt. Col. William W. James, United States Air Force (Ret.), died February 19, 1982 at his home in Lakewood, Colo. He had a long career in public information and press relations which began in 1939. At his retirement in 1969 he was Chief of the Media Accreditation and Tours Staff, Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Public Affairs.
James has served tours of duty in Germany, Korea, Tokyo, was stationed at the Pentagon eleven years and was an instructor at the information school at Carlisle, f*a.
He was twice awarded the Legion of Merit and received the Air Force Meritorious Service Medal, the Joint Services Commendation Medal and the Air Force Commendation Medal.
