Asked for the salavage value on current police vehicles, Buntin said it would not be over $500 apiece. If the supervisors approve purchase of new cars, he added, the number of old cars to be sold will depend on the number of deputy positions okayed by the compensation board since vehicles will have to be retained for additional staff.
“So the more (cars) we have, the more money we make!” commented supervisor H. B. Wood. “The state may pay for it but who’s paying the state? I just want to get that point across. There’s no such thing as Santa Claus.”
