Lunch Program

In the discussion of food services, the superintendent reported that reimbursement for this year's school lunch program is running at only 26 percent of what was anticipated due to a significant drop in the number of lunches purchased by students. If reimbursement from federal and state sources doesn’t cover costs and the number of lunches sold continues to slide, he added, it may be necessary to consider reductions in cafeteria staff.

In the past, the food services category has shown zeroes all across the budget page for compensation of cafeteria staff since salaries are paid with federal and state flow-through funds. At the request of Robert Eastham aad Nelson Lane, the superintendent agreed to show all former “off-budget" items in the proposed 198283 budget, including revenue
