The supervisors are scheduled to receive budget requests from all county departments by April 1. Hubert Gilkey noted, however, that a decision on buying new cars from the State Purchasing office must be made by March 15.

Wood complained that the board was being asked to make a spur of the moment decision, noting that he didn’t want to act on the car request until he could see the entire budget picture and project an impact on the tax rate.

“I’d like to have a few days to consider this,” agreed Latham.
