Other survivors include two children, Michelle L. Newton and Darron L. Newton, both at home; and a brother, Paul Marcil of Quebec. Canada.
Mrs. Newton attended Rappahannock County Schools and was a retired secretary for the Juvenile Probation Office in Madison.
A funeral service was held Tuesday at the Madison Church of the Brethren at Brightwood, conducted by the Rev. William Pond. Interment was in the church cemetery.
