BLACKSBURG-Amer icans are eating more chicken than ever before. In the last two decades, the consumption of chicken has risen from 27.8 pounds in 1960 to 51.2 pounds in 1980, a gain of 84 percent. Virginia Tech Extension poultry specialists noted that this is one of the many significant changes in the eating habits of Americans which has occurred during the past 20 years.
The increasing demand for poultry has aided the growth of the poultry industry in Virginia.
