A jump of $7,061 for the board of supervisors represents the total cost of workmen's compensation insurance for county employees, Cox said. “I put it under the supervisors just to have someplace in the budget to put it," he said, adding that the costs will later be pro-rated between all departments of county government.
Audit costs are up $1,000, reflecting new federal regulations that shift to the county responsibility for auditing federally funded school and welfare programs and federal grants.
The proposed budget includes $25,000 to start the reassessment.
