Flash floods occur in mountain canyons and valleys. They can occur where houses and shopping centers have been built close to streams.
Flash floods can pick up cars, campers and mobile homes, roll large boulders, knock down trees, rip out roads and bridges.
Get to high ground.
Flash flood watch means there may be flooding. Stay alert. Watch for thunderstorms. Keep an eye on rivers and streams—if they rise, don’t wait, get to high ground fast.
