Due to Rappahannock’s reliance on that state schedule, tax bills of some county landowners went down last year by as much as 50 percent. noted Supervisor Charles Pistes. “It looks like we may have to do some adjusting op that,” he said, adding that one category in use value assessment is valued at $50 per acre.

Supervisor chairman J. R. Latham recalled that when the board adopted county-wide use value taxation, it also passed a resolution specifying that no land would be assessed at less than $200 an acre.
