Around the county, flood waters subsided over roads and brides only to rise a^ain with the new (Jownpour. Resident highway engineer Donald Askew said that the same trouble spots were evident this week.
“We had gradual flooding of streams, river, bridges and low roads,” Askew said, “but with no real danger of flash flooding.”
Askew noted that flooded roads and ditches needed general repair and clean-up work rather than major repairs. He observed that the new bridges at Rock Mills were reconstructed with larger spillwavs and better footings and that “they are still with us” in spite of rising water.
