With the receipt of almost $20,000 in local leadership donations—or half the expected local donation—the first stage of the fund drive for a new child care and learning center will close May 7 at the annual Sursum Corda spaghetti dinner. The appeal will then be extended to the rest of the Rappahannock Community.
Lois Manookian, chairman of the building committee and coordinator of the fund-raising drive, said that with money already raised, 75,000 promised from the Greve Foundation, and funds expected from other private sources, the goal of an expanded child-care program for Rappahannock is in sight.
