Charles Jenkins
Town Engineer
Charles Robert Jenkins, age 71, of Washington, died Wednesday, April 20, 1983, at his residence.
A native of Rappahannock County, he was the son of the late Jack and Sarah Norman Jenkins. Mr. Jenkins was a member of Washington Baptist Church, a member of the Town Council of Washington, past president and honorary member of Washington Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad and engineer for the Town of Washington. Mr. Jenkins was retired from the U. S. Department of Agriculture.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Erma Hitt Jenkins of Washington; one daughter, Mrs. Alice C. Butler of McLean; a foster son, Robert Weakley of Fredericksburg; four grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Ella Howell of Richmond.
Graveside services were held Friday at Washington Masonic Cemetery by the Rev. Steven Scoggin.
Pallbearers were Clarence Giles, Jr., Newbill Miller, Kirkland Davis, Gibson Wharton, Can-oil Racer and Clabert Smoot.
Clore Funeral Home in Culpeper was in charge of arrangements.
Appreciation Day
An appreciation day for Mrs. Lessie Fincham will be held at Hopewell Baptist Church on Sunday, May 1 at 3 p.m. Mrs. Fincham was treasurer of the Hopewell Baptist Church building fund for many years.
