In distance events, Scott Keithlev and Ronnie Atkins were two-three in the mile and two mile while David Dodson and Craig Kenyon finished second and third in the 880 run. Other Rappahannock point getters were Chris Caperton , second in the 400; Jimmy Freeman, third in the high hurdles and Clarence Pendleton with thirds in the triple jump and high jump.

“I’ve been very pleased with the team effort the guys have shown,” coach Saunders said. “They’re heading toward district, building up momentum.”

Rappahannock,had two happy coaches after the cliffhanging wins of both the boys and girls squads last Wednesday. “We've taken it down to the last event in three meets for the difference between winning and losing. I’m really proud of both the boys and the girls,” said Saunders. In what has to qualify as the classic understatement, he added, "They make the events exciting to watch.”
