dancing on T.V., and first practiced it at home on the living room floor, much to his mother's dismay. “Mom thought it was stupid at first,” he said. “When she heard it was sweeping the nation, she told me to go for it.”

Rappahannockers young and old alike went for the energy and grace of the breakdancers. Autograph seekers crowded the stage after the show; other folks waited outside to compliment the performers and ask more questions.

Patrick Brown, a freshman at Rappahannock High, is the son of Carolyn and Will Brown. Herbert Shanks, a sixth-grader at Rappahannock Elementary, is the son of Barbara Dennis Shanks and the late Herbert Shanks.
