Another jogger for dollars, Dennis Wingfield, covered the Fodders tack course, his first ever road race, in 58:18. The history teachers and SCA sponsor was running to earn money for a new trophy case at Rappahannock County High School.
Nancy Secrist, Rappahannock’s former home demonstration and 4-H agent, was back from New York City for the Fodderstack but she didn’t compete this year, "however, her son Bart ran the 10 kilometers in 52:08.
In the expectant mothers’ class, a new addition to the Fodderstack’8 categories, local entries Daphne Hutchinson (expecting in two weeks) and Stephanie Ridder (expecting in seven) crossed the finish line together, posting times of two hours and 12 minutes. The last two walkers to arrive in Washington, they trailed the mothers pushing carriages—Diane Wood, Laurie Marshall and Beth Levick— by about 15 minutes.
