Assistant Superintendent Tom Campbell has been at work solving other problems. Campbell gave the board his latest special education update.
Campbell was charged with implementing state recommendations sent after last spring’s inspection by rehabilitative services coordinator Joe Huffman. “We are now in substantial compliance with state regulations at the elementary school,” Campbell told the board.
He reported that curb cuts were made on both sides of the building, one from the front parking lot and the other at the back by the primary playground. Ramps were built leading up to the gym entrance and at the back lot as well “so we have the building now totally accessible to wheelchairs.”
Grab bars have been installed in the rest rooms, Campbell added.
