Washington

Washington’s Fire Department began its fund drive by mail in February. Some 600 requests for contributions were made; about1 100 donations have been mailed in so far.

Washington’s primary objective this year will be completion of the upper portion of the firehall, which presently is just a shell. Even with volunteer help to complete this project, Gene Leggett estimates the cost to be as high as $30,000.

The Washington volunteers also hope to add shocktrauma capabilities in 1984. No fundraising goal has been set; Washington hopes to continue receiving private contributions throughout . the year. 1

Editor’s Note; Chester Gap’s fundraising efforts will be covered in next week's edition.
