Twenty-two pupils in grades 4-7 are signed up for a newspaper reporting course which started on March 29, Estabrook noted. The class is taught by Rappahannock News reporter and freelance writer Theresa Reynolds.
A series of guest speakers is the basis of a class on county government. A dozen students from grades 8-12 met with Sheriff John Henry Woodward last Wednesday to hear about his job. Later they will meet with County Clerk Diane Bruce, Treasurer Frances Foster and Commonwealth’s Attorney Peter Luke, Estabrook said.
Also on their agenda is a day in court and attendance at the May Board of Supervisors meeting, Estabrook added.
A creative writing class for children in the second and third grades is due to start the week after Easter break. It will be taught by former RCES teacher and freelance writer Diane Wood.
