ministrators, O’Meara said. Then the School Board again reviewed and reduced contemplated expenditures to come up with “the most reasonable possible budget,” he said. He asked the supervisors to refrain from making further cuts in the school budget.
Chris Bird described the proposed budget as a “first step” towards providing an improved educational program. “If we don’t meet the needs of our children, they won’t be able to offer the world what it needs.”
Joe Williams from Chester Gap told the supervisors that he has one child in school and one graduated. “I don’t feel like Rappahannock (schools) have given our children what they need. I don’t feel like what they’ve been given is good enough.”
Williams said he’s seen the educational and sports equipment provided inamtes in jails and prisons. “Then I see what my son is playing in and learning in. I feel ike he deserves a lot better."
