The art of baking fine bread and the time and patience needed to realize a beautiful garden lend quality and caring to our lives, as do dozens of other tasks when performed consciously and with our best effort. The time spent coloring Easter eggs is time away from the passivity of television-watching, away from job worries and the seemingly unstoppable pattern of hurrying in our society. These activities are viable art forms, not only by merit of the finished products, but because of the effect they have on those who perform them and the widespread influence that these individuals can have on our communities and our world.
