due to its remoteness, excessive grading, trucking of goods, heating, etc.
I could go on but most people should get the picture. This time we are not talking about the money of individuals or private enterprise. We are talking about taxpayers’ money.
I’m sure there is a need for just such a facility. I’m not against that — just the location. If Mr. Snead could provide the following, I’m all for his idea:
1. Keep the waste water out of Rush River and everyone’s drinking water downstream from the facility. Not just the first year of operation but 20 years from now.
2. Have a doctor on call 24 hours a day.
3. Have his own ambulance, driver, and related personnel. Not the county’s.
4. Install and maintain an alternate source of electricity such as a hospital is required to do.
6. Provides his own snow removal equipment so an ill resident of the facility could get out to a doctor or hospital in case of an emergency.
6. Get rid of the snakes, mosquitos and insects that would constantly plague people living in the group home. Now, you cannot sit outside after sundown in the summer months.
7. Last but not least, move the mountain behind the Ski Area so our elderly citizens could receive the full day of sunshine they so richly deserve and eryoy.
These conditions will satisfy me and most other residents of the county. The people who will be living there deserve them and more. We had outside help getting rid of the last two adventures at the Ski Area — Mother Nature and the Arabs. This time we don’t need any outside help. What we need is right here. It’s free. It’s called common sense.
I urge every resident of Harris Hollow and also of the town of Washington to attend the meeting at the Rappahannock County courthouse tonight, April 26, at 7:30 p.m.
