He told the news conference his campaign will not reimburse him for any of the $56,000 annual attorney general’s salary he will lose by his resignation.
“I plan to draw on my personal resources as long as they last,” he said.
Robb said Baliles’ failure to draw a state salary may be only temporary.
“I hope there will be an opportunity for him to resume his public service in some official capacity in the nottoo-distant future,” he said.
Robb earns $75,000 a year as governor but his successor will receive $85,000.
