THE PEACE OF GOD
(Part I)
One of the greatest needs of mankind in the world today is peace. The world searches for peace and fulfillment in many different ways; through money, drugs, careers and many other avenues to find this peace. The only true and lasting peace is the peace that God offers to those who will receive it.
Peace has a two-fold meaning to us. The first is receiving Jesus Christ as our personal saviour. We were once alienated from God because of our sin, but making Jesus Lord of > our lives causes us to have peace with God. 1 It tells us in Romans 5:1; "Therefore being justified by faith we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ." The second part I want to share with you is that we can have the peace of God. This kind of peace is available to us according to God's word. He promises us peace when we follow the steps , that are laid out for us in His word. 1
Phil. 4:7 says, "And the peace of God 1 which passeth all understanding shall keep ! your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus." ! But in order for us to enjoy this great promise, i we must follow the steps laid out for us in ! verses 4 thru 6. Here the apostle Paul tells us ! to rejoice in the Lord always. In verse 6, he i says to be careful (anxious) for nothing. !
This is one of the keys to having the j PEACE OF GOD. Paul is saying, instead of j worrying and being anxious, to rejoice. The ! rest of that 6th verse says, "but in everything j by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving \ make your request known to God." !
Paul i j saying, instead of being anxious 3 or worrying, to rejoice, to pray, make suppli- * cation or petition, with thanksgiving; and after j having done this then the promise in verse 7 i of Phil. 4 is ours. The PEACE OF GOO will j come on you like He promised. i
HALLELUJAH! God's peace will come i on you, as you believe and trust his word. !
