Jayeees To Meet

The Rappahannock Jayeees will meet on Thursday, August 15, at a p.m. at Brambles in Washington. All members and interested persons are urged to attend.

Nursing Open House At Germanna

The Nursing Department of Germanna Community College announces a transfer agreement with the University of Virginia offering transfer credit for nursing courses taken at Germanna from 1980 to present. In the past, all nursing courses from one institution to another have had to be challenged before being accepted.

An open house will be held at the Germanna campus on August 21 from 1 to 4:30 p.m. to discuss the new program. Representatives from both Germanna and UVA will be on hand to advise interested students on the program requirements. For additional information call Germanna at 703-399-1333.

Pottery Classes

Pottery and glazing classes will be on the schedule this fall at Lord Fairfax Community College.

Introduction to Pottery will cover the fundamentals of wheel throwing for beginners and offer individualized instruction for advanced students. The class will meet on Thursdays from 7 to 10 p.m.

Pottery Glazing and Decorating is scheduled for Wednesday evenings from 7 to 10. Beginning and advanced students will explore a variety of decorating techniques and glaze experiments designed to give a basic knowledge of glaze characteristics.

Both courses may be applied towards a certificate in ceramics. Registration for returning students is August 22 and open registration is September 3, 4, and 5 from 1 to 7 p.m. Call 869-1120 for further information.

First Virginia Wine Auction Set

Virginia’s first wine auction will be held Saturday, August 31 in Middleburg, in conjunction with the 10th annual wine festival, to benefit the restoration of the historic R.R. Depot in The Plains.

The auction will be conducted at the Festival Center on the grounds of “the most beautiful vineyard in Virginia”, Valley View Vineyard, one mile east of Middleburg on U.S. Route 50, home of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Swedenburg. £
