BZA Members Sought
Judge William Shore Robertson will interview and/or discuss nominees to be considered for appointment to the Board of Zoning Appeals for the Town of Washington on Thursday, August 15, at 4 p.m. Interested persons should come to the courtroom at 4 p.m. for interviews. There will be five appointments to the board.
• New County Forester
Buck Kline has taken over the duties of County Forester as of July 1. He will cover the counties of Madison, Rappahannock and western Culpeper. Bill Vemam, the previous forester, has been assigned to Fauquier and Prince William counties.

• New Homemaker
Rappahannock County is getting a new Extension Homemaker Sept. 2.
The appointment of Elizabeth Ann Stout was approved by the county supervisors Monday, but Miss Stout is expected to begin next month.
Currently, Miss Stout is working an her master’s degree at Virginia Tech.
• Inspection Fee
Rappahannock County has imposed a $50 fee to inspect rides that carnival or circus groups bring into the county.
The fee, established by the county supervisors Monday, affects only those troupes from outside the county.
It was first considered that all rides and amusements be inspected and subject to a fee.
“It’s going to have an impact on all the departments,” said board Chairman Hubert Gilkey. “They’ve been operating on a shoe string.”
The fee was then imposed only on groups that bring their rides into the county.
