The Flint Hill Volunteer Fire Company completed its annual fund raising carnival on Saturday, August 3. The gross from the carnival was in excess of $34,000, which makes the 1985 carnival one of the best for Flint Hill.

The Flint Hill firemen and the Ladies Auxiliary thank everyone who had any part in the event.

Winners of the prizes awarded Saturday night were: Cheryl S. Vance, Newport News, the 1985 Chevette; Jo Ann Martinez, Sperryville, the registered Black Angus; Shirley Frye, Luray, the Redskin season tickets; Lisa Settle, Front Royal, living room furniture; Millie Hammock, Front Royal, Trout Drug gift certificate; and Charles Dodson, Front Royal, firechiefs decanter.

Parade winners on Thursday night included: Best appearing fire department (over 500 population) - first place, Orange; second place, Front Royal; third place, Marshall and fourth place, Strasburg. Best appearing fire department (under 500 population) - first place, Lois of Bealeton; second place, McGaheysville; third place, Conservation Center of Front Royal and fourth place, Amissville.
