Humane Society Auction

An auction to benefit the Rappahannock Humane Society will be held at Points of View Farm in Flint Hill on Saturday, October 18 at 2 p.m., rain or shine.

Donations of items to auction will be gratefully accepted. For donations or information call Ann Sakalaucks at 987-8140.

Coppage family reunion

The annual family reunion of the late George and Florence Leake Coppage will be held on Sunday, September 14 at the Rappahannock Park on Route 211 near Washington. Relatives and friends are invited. Lunch will be served at 1 p.m. “Plan to come, join us and spend the day,” said a family spokesperson.

Fundamentals of drawing at

Middle Street

Local artist Robin Purnell will be offering a five lesson course on drawing. Using objects from the natural world, (i.e. shells, mushrooms, fish, plant life, etc.) Participants will explore the basic techniques of executing a drawing and sharpening their powers of observation.

Lessons will also be given for beginners. Emphasis will also be given to experimentation with materials. Classes will begin on October 6 and run through November 3 from 7:30 to 9:00 p.m. Mondays at the Middle Street Gallery, Washington. The fee for the course is $50 and does not include materials.
