“I recognize that, in some areas, the money will never be enough. Money can always be spent for additional programs, levels of instruction that can be included.”
He said: “I have set a goal that Virginia should aspire to be in the top 10 school systems in the country. It’s a goal that may take us a little while to achieve; it may take us some money, but I’m committed to the goal.”
Money alone won’t be enough to address the state’s educational deficiencies, he said. “New ideas” also will be required.

“I think it will work,” he said. “It is an example of what we can expect in the future where public and private interests come together to promote new forms of economic activity.
“Back in April, I stated that I thought CIT had not marketed its success very well. . . They ought to come out of the closet and tell their story and let the public see what they have to offer. It is a good story.”
