Hospice
volunteers
Like Uncle Sam in that famous recruiting poster, the Hospice of the Rapidan is pointing a finger and saying “We need you.” The hospice needs trained volunteers to call in and offer their time as caregivers.
“We also need men and women who desire to take the volunteer training and who want to become members of the hospice team,” hospice director Susan Taylor said.
Beginning October 7, classes to train volunteers to provide hospice care will be held in several locations. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, a group will meet at the Orange County Nursing Home on Madison Road in Orange. Another series of training sessions will be held at the Madison County Rescue Squad building in Madison on Wednesdays and Fridays. Both groups will meet from 9:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.
Rosemary Sheatsley, Coordinator of Training for the hospice, will be conducting the volunteer training sessions. For further information, or to enroll for the training program, call the hospice office (825-4840) during the morning, Monday through Friday.
