A new exhibit called “Creating the Constitution” which is in the Rotunda was described. This explains the problems of operating under the Articles of Confederation - no money standard; no common defense; veterans unhappy because they were not getting pensions; the unsuccessful call for a convention in Annapolis and finally the call to revise the Articles of Confederation which resulted in the writing of the Constitution.
Only selected pages of the Constitution are on display but toward the 200th anniversary of the signing (Sept. 17,1987) all of it will be put on display.
