The long and storied history of Bromfield Parish began a new chapter Sunday with the dedication of Bromfield Hall at Trinity Episcopal Church in Washington.
The hall, which is an expansion of Stuart Hall, the original parish hall built in 1956, includes a meeting room upstairs and church offices downstairs. According to Mrs. Cathy Knuepfer, more than half the money for both the original parish hall and the Bromfield expansion was raised by the dried flower sales which the women of the church have held each year since 1956.
Bromfield Parish was established by an Act of the Assembly in 1752, when it was separated from St. Mark’s Parish, centered in what is now the town of Culpeper (known then as Fairfax Courthouse). It included the area that later became Madison, Rappahannock, and a small part of Culpeper County. That
