‘Their experience suggests that Rappahannock would be well-advised not to go down that path. While the expense of central sewer would tend to discourage the development of large subdivisions, (under the proposed subdivision ordinance’s requirement) it would be difficult to refuse approval of any package plant that might be proposed,” Mr. Larson cautioned.
“If package sewage treatment plants have a history of not being totally reliable. .. maybe there shouldn’t be a choice,” said Mr. Miller, the Board of Supervisors’ representative on the Commission.
Mr. McCarthy, who previously worked with Albemarle County’s planning office, reported that the two package plants permitted in that county failed within 10
