tastes. Local restaurants will feature old-time favorites — peanut soup, Cornish game hens, salt-cured and glazed ham, chicken and dumplings, Sally Lund bread and cornbread, Welsh rarebit, Brunswick stew and traditional desserts, including apple, pumpkin and pecan pies.
The finale will come Sunday evening at the Gay Street Theater with the 7:30 performance of “Christmas in the Olde Vic,” a delightful play with music based on four lesserknown Christmas stories by Charles Dickens.
Many of the weekend festivities are free; a fee of $2 for adults and $1 for children is charged for the admission tickets covering the walking tours, open houses with refreshments and the colonial dancing.
