Davis noted that neither Mr. Morehouse nor his attorney Frank Reynolds had mentioned the encroachment to her. It was Zoning Administrator John McCarthy who had relayed the complaint, she said, and “I told him that the new survey showed no encroachment on the Morehouse property and I knew of none, but if Morehouse could prove to my satisfaction it was the case, then I would correct it. This still holds true.”
She charged that “unfounded complaints” at least five hearings have caused her “untold expenses and aggravation” and that she continues to be subjected to “unsupported allegations, slander, misrepresentation of facts and a reckless irresponsible disregard of the truth in regard to my business.” Asking “what means can be taken to deal with this credibility gap,” Mrs. Davis added that she will “support Mrs. Wagner in any way possible to clear up this matter.”
BZA member Sid Gottlieb maintained that the letter warranted a reply, saying he felt he’d been “led down the garden path” by misrepresentations about Mrs. Davis. “I want to see this doesn’t happen in the future,” said the new BZA member who was attending his first meeting last month. “I feel that our proceedings did cause Mrs. Davis embarrassment and anguish ...
