In response to concerns raised by Piedmont Environmental Council, a Warrenton-based rural conservation organization serving Rappahannock and eight other counties in the Piedmont region, Rappahannock’s Planning Commissioners have dropped a requirement for package sewage treatment plants for subdivisions of five lots.
The Commissioners retained a provision for public water and sewer for subdivisions of 10 or more lots in the proposed subdivision ordinance they forwarded Monday night to the Board of Supervisors. However, information supplied by PEC raises doubts as to whether privately owned and operated package plants should be allowed, period.
