Literacy volunteers offer GED tutoring
Rappahannock's Literacy Volunteers are offering free tutoring to those planning to take the high school diploma equivalency examination. The GED preparatory course will be given beginning Monday, October 3, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the county library in Washington and continuing on subsequent Mondays on October, same time and place. Recycling may be here to stay in Rappahannock. Despite short notice and a rainy, gray Saturday more conducive tg watching the Olympics on TV, Rappahannock residents showed up at the county park to turn in their newspapers, aluminum, and glass. And those who missed the first time around can join the recyclers on October 15 and on the third Saturday of following months. RALLY (the Rappahannock Anti Litter League and You) hopes to make the recycling day a regular event because, when it comes to preserving the environment, conserving natural resources, and reducing the costs of solid waste disposal, using it once just isn't enough.
