We have the new Rappahannock Education Action Project which is trying to bring higher education to the county. REAP hopes to turn high school classrooms into college classrooms after hours, providing younger students advanced placement classes and older students with the means to improve their economic position or simply enrich their lives.
Finally, all of these diverse groups and their members are working together to achieve mutual goals, an educational feat in itself.
And this is all happening here in Rappahannock County while education in general across the United States gets lower and lower grades from the public, the media, and professionals in the field.
Education is the key to everything, said Supervisor Hubert Gilkey at last Sunday’s dedication of the remodeled and expanded county high school. Take a look at Rappahannock’s key: it’s bright and shiny, and we haven’t even finished polishing yet. ,
