Reagan and Bush have pushed the national debt up toward $2.5 trillion dollars, adding more than all the presidents from George Washington up through Jimmy Carter. No efforts or plans have been made to reduce this debt. The Gramm-Rudman plan merely struggles to keep it from growing faster.
