to the needs of a growing town and county and work from a position being better able to accommodate the needs as they are presented. That, indeed, is our responsibility iti good government; it is not our responsibility to paint a picture of the town as it is now, and not be open to reasonable proposals for change and for new services. '

As to speculation that I am interested in serving on the Planning Commission solely to represent my own interests, this is ludicrous. If *I am appointed to serve, proposed plans for my own personal property will be evaluated by others on the Commission, because it would be a conflict of interest for me to vote on such a matter.

I am confident that my views regarding planning for the town are representative of the majority of the people who live and work here. 'I think that town government is top heavy in representation by people who live and work in the Washington, D.C. area and that it is time now for more local representation on our governing bodies. If we are to assure that this town remains a vital entity, it is our obligation to beconie more involved and to see to it that the town does not become just a bedroom or weekend residential corrjmunity, but that it is responsive to the needs of the community and especially to the people who live and work here every day.
